❌ SCAM Bitcoimex Scam Crypto Trading DApp To Avoid

Scam flagged website/app or resource
attachment

Bitcoimex is a scam DApp being used by fraudsters to convince unsuspecting investors to part with their cash.
The scam usually starts with the victim being contacted by a stranger on a social media platform such as Facebook or WhatsApp and befriended.
The new ‘friend’ will soon turn the conversation to crypto investing and give the victim details of a DApp that they can access through a mainstream crypto wallet such as Trust Wallet.
However, the DApp is effectively a dummy platform used by the scammers to mimic a trading app and convince the victim to part with their money.
At first, it’ll appear as if profits are accruing in the victim’s account and they may even be able to withdraw small amounts to start with.
But when they come to withdraw their balance, the scammers will block them from doing so, often claiming certain ‘fees’ need to be paid.
However, this is another ruse by the scammers to extract even more money from the victim. Any further cash paid will be lost as well.
There are various issues that reveal the Bitcoimex DApp to be fake.
They include:
  • Amateurish design with poor quality, pixelated images.
  • Claims that profits are made from USDT mining pools. USDT cannot be mined.
  • A very new domain name meaning the site is likely to be shut down quickly.
  • Being introduced to the platform via a new ‘friend’ online.
  • Mismatched platform name and tap URL. The platform is called Bitcoimex while the tab states the site is called BitMEX.
  • If you visit the platform on a desktop or laptop it tried to automatically connect to your crypto wallet.
  • There are no social media accounts associated with Bitcoimex.
Can I get my stolen funds back from Bitcoimex?
Unfortunately, crypto lost to platforms such as Bitcoimex is often quickly syphoned off into dozens of different anonymous accounts making it very difficult to trace.
There are also private companies that might be able to help which I’ve written about here.
