How to stop debit card spoofing scams?

Debit card spoofing scams are becoming very common nowadays. You can take various steps to prevent this. Covering your PIN is very important while entering it in the ATM or the POS. The criminals can easily get the information if they use the hidden camera or the fake keyboard. Also, it is good to check if the ATM or the card reader is ok and if there is nothing suspicious, such as the loose parts, the colors that do not match, or the bulky things, as these can be the signs of the tampering.

Do not be hasty to give your card number or PIN by phone, text, or email to a person who has not requested it. No bank will ask you to give such information by an unprotected way of communication, this is what you must remember. If you receive a message asking for such info, do not answer, get rid of it, and call your bank with a number that you know is the right one.

Choose to get notifications for every transaction done through your bank's app or via SMS. Having such notices allows you to grab fraud instances fast. In case you notice an unexpected deduction, get in touch with the issuer immediately. The sooner, the better to avoid losing a lot of money.

Do not at all use your debit card on all those unfamiliar websites or public Wi-Fi networks. These are the spots that the scammers most often use for data interception. The flip side is that you should use safe, private, and reliable platforms. In addition, check your account to see if there are any unexpected transactions going on and compare them to your records. You should not wait for the monthly statements but at least once a week, go through your transactions.

To sum up, in case your card gets lost or stolen, immediately report it. This will stop the thieves from using your card without your permission. One of the best solutions to fight against these spoofing scams is the immediate action.

Because you never know if there is a hidden camera or a fake keypad, I always cover my PIN when using ATMs or point-of-sale machines. I also check the card reader for any strange things; mismatched colors or loose parts are major red flags. I never give out my credit card information over the phone, via text, or via email, especially if I didn't start the conversation. To be informed immediately of any activity, I have configured transaction alerts on my phone. I don't use my debit card over public Wi-Fi or on dubious websites. Every week, I look for any unusual activity in my bank account. If I ever lose my card, I report it immediately. The best defense against debit card spoofing is to act quickly.

You may be scared from ATM it is fully legitimate but if you are going to a well known shop and will pay in TPE there is no reason for this scare because it is just something scary on the street or some place not well known not purchasing from supermarket. Alternativelly, there is SMS sent to phone add to pin card at ATM means even credit card stollen he can't cash out money from ATM due to two factor authentification process unless your bank cash out money directly by setting up PIN means one level of security.
