What are the disadvantages of owning a car?

By having a car, one can become the master of his/her own fate but at the same time, disadvantages regarding money and constant obligations can appear which might negatively affect one’s budget and lifestyle: even after buying a car, there is a range of hidden payments such as insurance which is no more a cheap service after getting London metropolis insurance or with the time, the would-be premium is influenced by the sum of aging drivers and their accident history, fuel, and maintenance costs. You are obliged to pay annual registration charges and perform mandatory reviews that differ from place to place. Moreover, the fuel for parking there can cost you, or the place might be already taken and you might get tickets or even tow if you do not pay enough attention, besides that your stress is increasing because of the traffic congestion and you spend more time, which could have been devoted to work, family, or leisure, in vain. The vehicles’ prices are crashing because of the speedy departure of their value, sometimes less than 70% of the original value of the car is left, which would result in your having to substantially overpay the next time you want to buy such car model as a trade in or for a bit of extra cash can lead to a huge financial setback. The issue of environmental pollution arises from emissions. If you don't run on electricity or hybrid which have some minuses as well in the form of expensive upfront cost and availability of charging stations, hence, you will still have to deal with air pollution and leave your feet and bike and turn to a car, and if you are getting a loan or paying for a lease of the car, your capital will be tied up and you will not be able to do the investment plan or experience, while for the unexpected car breakdowns you will have to wait for the tow truck which is not only costly but also a time-consuming process, besides, the car you own may eventually ruin your social life by using it instead of walking and cycling even for short distances, which, on the one hand, can bring about a change in your health, and on the other hand, can also affect the road and environment in the vicinity, it acts as a reminder that even though cars provide convenience they also carry financial, loading, and environmental burdens.

Since I could go anywhere at any time and didn't have to wait on buses, owning a car initially felt liberating. But the expenses add up quickly, man. My budget was severely impacted by insurance alone, not to mention gas, unforeseen repairs, or sporadic parking tickets for staying in the car for five minutes too long. I'm also exhausted by traffic. Before, I believed I was saving time, but now I spend more time behind the wheel. I've even been known to forego bike rides or walks simply because the car is there. It seems like I gave up some freedom in exchange for more stress and expenses. It's helpful, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot more requirements than I anticipated.
