Transparency is, in my opinion, the first ethical rule that businesses should adhere to. I once used a recommendation-making AI tool, but I had no idea how it came to its conclusions. That was awkward. People should be aware of when and how they are interacting with artificial intelligence. Users should be informed when a system makes a decision, such as rejecting a loan application or choosing a job applicant.
Fairness comes next. Biased data can infiltrate an AI model without anyone noticing, as I discovered the hard way. Because of this, businesses must actively detect and minimize bias, particularly in training data. Discrimination may result if a business creates a product that, even unintentionally, benefits one group over another.
Another important one is privacy. I ensured that user consent was explicit and that all data was encrypted when I worked on a project that collected user information. Businesses should protect their data as if it were their own, and they should never gather information without permission.
Accountability is also crucial. There must be a straightforward method to identify the issue and address it if an AI system causes harm. Businesses shouldn't solely attribute the problem to the algorithm. They must possess it since they made it.
