⍰ ASK Favorite heat protectant?

Okay, so, picking a heat protectant sounds like some random little chore, right? But man, if you’re like me and you blast your hair with a blow dryer or some 400-degree curling wand basically every other day, it’s clutch. Like I found out the brutal way—extra crispy, straw-like ends, breakage everywhere—seriously, not cute. Skipping protection? Big mistake, trust me. Now, I’m super picky: I want something that actually guards my hair against all that heat abuse, but I don’t wanna end up with that gross, sticky feeling or hair that’s as flat as a pancake.

Here’s what I keep going back for—the Living Proof Restore Instant Protection Spray. I’m kinda obsessed, not gonna lie. It’s crazy lightweight, which is rare because a bunch of these sprays literally leave your hair with that “did I just dip my head in fryer oil?” vibe. Not here. Plus it’s good up to 450°F (aka, hotter than anyone should probably use anyway, but we live dangerously), so it’s perfect for whatever tool I grab. The side perks don’t hurt either—UV protection? Didn’t know I needed it until I had it. My hair doesn’t get all stiff or crispy, so my waves still do their thing and I don’t look like I wrapped straw around my head. Some days when my hair needs a little something extra—hello, winter dryness—I’ll slap on a bit of leave-in conditioner too, just for kicks.

Seriously though, skipping heat protectant is just asking for problems. “Ignore it and hope for the best” is not a strategy, I learned that one on my own scalp. It’s not just about sprays either. Gotta watch the temp, chill out on those daily stylings (do I listen to my own advice? Debatable), and, you know, be nice to your hair every once in a while.

Anyway—what are you using? Hot tip-sharing circle, let’s go. I’m always lowkey hunting for the next holy grail.
