⍰ ASK How do you make makeup last all day?

Oh , getting makeup to stick around all day? That took me years of trial, error, and probably a small fortune at Sephora—no shame. Seriously, nothing kills your vibe faster than catching a glimpse of yourself at 2pm and thinking, “Wait, where did my face go?”

Honestly, it’s all about the prep. I used to slap makeup straight onto my face, but nah—if your skin’s mad at you (super dry or feeling like a frying pan), your foundation’s basically doomed. Clean face, moisturizer, always. Sometimes I even layer two if my skin’s extra parched, and I’m not above a spritz of face mist either, just to wake things up.

And primer? Yeah, that’s not just Instagram hype. Find one that actually makes sense for your face; trust me, nobody with pancake skin needs a hardcore mattifier. I’ve messed that up before—hello, flaky disaster. But when you nail the primer, suddenly your foundation is like, “Dang, I actually wanna hang out here for awhile!” I’m big on long-wear foundations, but heavy ones? Ugh, no thanks. If it feels like a mask, hard pass. Damp beauty sponge is my holy grail—just melts everything in, kind of magical, actually.

I’m not gonna lie, powder freaks me out if I pile it on. So I just hit the oily spots—the T-zone, under eyes, maybe chin if I’m feeling wild. After that? A setting spray. Some people say it’s a scam, but honestly, it feels good and keeps my face from looking like cake batter at the end of the day.

Layering products is kind of an art form, not gonna lie. Cream blush under powder blush? Game. Changer. It sounds extra, but it weirdly works and just stays put, even if I’m running around all day.

Biggest lesson? Chill with the amount of product. Caked-on layers just break up and look weird anyway. Thin layers and a little blotting here and there, boom—still looking decent way past lunchtime. Oh! And drink water. And try not to face-palm every five seconds. Old habits die hard.

So, what’s your “don’t budge” makeup secret? And if you say duct tape, I might try it.
