Oof, hair washing—now there’s a hot topic that spirals people into wild debates, kinda like pineapple on pizza (for the record: delicious). Seriously, it took me ages to sorta crack the code for my own mop. Back in the day, I was washing my hair basically every time I even glanced at a treadmill. Thought that made me super squeaky clean or whatever, which… turns out, not exactly. My scalp basically freaked out. The more I scrubbed, the more oil my head pumped out, like it was avenging some deep betrayal.
These days? I stick to two, maybe three washes a week (unless I’ve rolled around in mystery gunk). I’ve got that classic wavy hair combo where the roots get greasy and the ends are like: “hello yes we are desert, please send water.” Dry shampoo? Absolute lifesaver—works like a charm for keeping it fresh on the non-wash days. Sometimes I’ll just rinse with water and do a little scalp massage. Feels legit amazing, and apparently wakes up your follicles or whatever. Plus, less shampoo means my ends aren’t as crispy.
Honestly, it’s all super personal. Climate, hair type, if you’re sweating buckets every day or chilling in an office—the works. Like, people with curls might go a whole week (jealous), but my oily pals sometimes have to suds up more often unless they want to look like they bathed in fries. End of the day? Your scalp will pretty much tell you what’s up. Ignore the “rules.” Figure out your own rhythm, and just, y’know, don’t let peer pressure or old hair-washing myths boss you around.
So now that I overshared about my scalp—how about you? What’s your routine, and how’d you end up there?
