How to create best plugins for your online marketplace?

Running your own marketplace is an exciting journey, and plugins are like the secret sauce that can transform a basic platform into a powerhouse. But with thousands of plugins out there, choosing the right ones can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. First things first: if you're using WordPress with WooCommerce or something like Dokan, you’ll definitely want to start with plugins that support multi-vendor functionality. Dokan itself is excellent because it gives vendors their own dashboards and handles commissions effortlessly. WC Vendors and WCFM Marketplace are also solid contenders, offering different levels of vendor management features and flexibility. Once you’ve got your core multi-vendor plugin in place, the next thing to think about is trust. Customers need to feel safe, so plugins like Stripe for payment gateways and SSL plugins like Really Simple SSL are non-negotiable. Also, having a solid product review system matters more than most people realize—Customer Reviews for WooCommerce or YITH WooCommerce Advanced Reviews can add that layer of credibility your platform needs. When it comes to SEO and visibility, don’t skip over Rank Math or Yoast SEO. They’ll help you and your vendors rank higher and get discovered by more people. Security? You bet—Wordfence or iThemes Security will help keep things locked down and avoid those heart-stopping moments when something looks off. Now, marketplaces live or die on smooth communication, and that’s where plugins like WP Live Chat Support or Tawk.to come in handy. Your vendors and buyers should feel heard at all times. Want to take your game to the next level? Then integrate a plugin like Mailchimp for WooCommerce or AutomateWoo to send out tailored emails and marketing automations that feel personal and convert like crazy.

I've learned from running a marketplace that plugins genuinely make or break the experience for my vendors, customers, and myself. When it comes to managing vendors and commissions, a reliable multi-vendor plugin like Dokan or WCFM Marketplace is my first choice. I rely on plugins like Wordfence and Stripe integration because security and trust are unavoidable. Advanced review tools have a significant impact on credibility. And to be honest, visibility has greatly increased thanks to SEO tools like Rank Math. With Mailchimp, I've also leaned into email automation because it encourages user engagement and repeat business. It all comes down to creating a smart, safe, and seamless platform.

Stripe integration @john is for those how have credit cards, alternativelly people may do a small identity verification at redotpay credit card and purchase from stripe, it is better to accept also cryptocurrency from payment providers like cryptomonus or now payments and by this way to grab more sellers by providing a small reduction for those how pass crypto payment like 5 % off if you purchase with cryptocurrency so what do you think about this integration for example? Do you plan to add crypto payment into your shop or you are happy with wocommerce and stripe?

I've used WooCommerce to build a marketplace, and I can tell you that plugins are invaluable. Dokan was my first choice, and it instantly brought order to the chaos. Do vendors have dashboards of their own? revolutionary. However, it didn't end there. I quickly saw that communication and trust were equally important, so I added Tawk.to for real-time chats and Stripe for secure payments. It was similar to piecing together a unique solution without writing any code. Wordfence provided me with comfort, and Rank Math helped us get noticed. To be honest, your marketplace practically manages itself once you have the correct stack.

@kerryjoy the ultra majority of tutorials are about woocomerce and stripe but rare tutorials about setup up coinbase or coinpayments to receive some crypto funds, it is also an essential step to receive payments unless you don't to gamble value of product because crypto could either increase or decrease this is another story. Stripe and woocomerce are good if you have clients from some specific countries but doesn't work for everyone this is to resume all. But both of them are good depending on the options that are available for cash out into your country.
