It reveals a weak personality. A person with no self respect has no self worth. He/she allows to be dominated or tossed about by others. They feel important running errands for others. It's not necessarily a helpful nature but that's how they see themselves as important.

Truly self respecting person will hold their place at home and outside without being overbearing and intimidating others and not allowing anyone to humiliate or insult them.
With a self respecting person the world sees them with dignity and respect. Their word is taken with lot of weight. Their observations and anything they say, has a profound effect on the listener.
