⍰ ASK Removing negative reviews about the company

Hello!

The situation is as follows.

There is a website-catalog of enterprises. There is a page of a certain company. At one time, various reviews were written, both positive and negative. Then, either the owner of the website changed, or for other reasons, but the owners of the website updated the engine. All reviews after the update are given with the same date and time (I think that this only plays into my hands), while positive reviews were deleted, and only negative ones were left. This significantly spoils the reputation of the company on the Internet. It is not possible to contact the owner of the website, the domain whois information is private.

Is it possible to somehow legally, initially of course just a warning (a warning letter) to settle this issue? I would like to immediately contact the hoster and have him give the owner of the website time to settle the problem. I know that there are laws on slander, business reputation, etc., but I do not know if they can be applied here.

Now everyone writes and brushes off the fact that all reviews are the opinions of the authors - visitors to the site, and the resource administrators and editors are not responsible for this. But as far as I remember, this was until some time. Now the owner of the resource is responsible for everything, he must ensure that there is no information that may violate the law of the country. To say that I did not write it, look for the guest of the site - is no longer valid, am I right?

Thank you all for your help!

Hey @Oluti ,

That’s a tough situation, especially with only negative reviews left. If the site owner isn’t reachable, you could try going through the hosting provider, many have policies against misleading or defamatory content. A formal warning letter referencing defamation and business reputation laws might also push them to act.

If removal isn’t an option, focusing on pushing positive content and reviews elsewhere can help balance things out. It’s frustrating, but maintaining an active online presence can make a big difference.

By the way, here on PawProfit, we’ve added a feature that lets companies claim their page, provide updates, and directly address issues to keep their business reputation intact. More platforms should implement this to ensure fairness when reviewing businesses.
